Announcement 12.04.24

Dear United Way of Southern Maryland Friends and Supporters,

On October 4, 2024, the United Way of Southern Maryland (UWOSMD) bid farewell to CEO Stephanie Rolle. The Board of Directors is grateful for Ms. Rolle’s work to finalize the consolidation process of the previously independent United Way chapters of Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s Counties. The Board of Directors are prioritizing engaging in fundraising activities to support our numerous partner agencies as well as supporting UWOSMD staff through our leadership transition. The Board is committed to the UWOSMD’s mission to impact lives in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s Counties by mobilizing the caring power of our community to advance the common good.

Melissia Nikolaus, UWOSMD’s Administrative Lead / Data Entry Specialist is managing day to day operations of our office through activities including, but not limited to, answering our telephone, paying bills and managing our office space.

The Board of Directors are managing all aspects of governance for UWOSMD. Several Board committees meet monthly to oversee UWOSMD’s activities.

This fiscal year, UWOSMD has distributed $35,000 to support our agency partners this fiscal year. As Board Chair, I am committed to expanding our impact through increased fundraising activity and regular partner agency funding distributions to help them achieve their goals.

Funds raised by the UWOSMD will benefit agencies in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties. As a donor, you have the option to designate your funds to our Education, Financial Stability, or Health funds. Additionally, you may choose to designate your funds to benefit a particular partner agency. Please donate online or contact Melissia Nikolaus or call 301-609-4844 if you wish to designate your donation.

As we enter the year end giving season, I hope UWOSMD is at the top of your list! It’s exciting to be a part of a new organization in Southern Maryland. Thanks to volunteers and donors like you, all Southern Marylanders can thrive. Donate today!

Thank you,
Ashley Teagle
Board Chair
